Mr. Hatch received his Bachelor of Arts (BA)(cum laude) from Western Washington University in 1969 and a Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) degree from Willamette University College of Law in 1972. Following his admission to the practice of law in Washington state in 1972, he served for four years as a Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps, including service as a Special Courts-Martial trial judge. He entered private law practice in 1977. In 1978 he co-founded a law firm in Lynnwood, Washington and served as its managing share holder until 1996. He currently conducts his practice as a sole practitioner in Edmonds, Washington. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association and the Snohomish County Bar Association. He has served the Washington State Bar Association as a member of the Inter-Professional Committee, Consumer Protection Committee, and Special District Counsel.

He has been a general practitioner for his entire career, but in recent years has focused primarily upon basic estate planning, probate, real estate, business law, civil litigation, and motor vehicle related personal injury claims.

He and his wife Wendy have raised four children, and currently have five grand-children and one great-grandchild. Mr. Hatch has served as a member of the Stevens Hospital Foundation in Edmonds, Washington and has been a member of the Rotary Club of Lynnwood, Washington since 1982; serving one term as its President.
